A- Washington Heights - Fulton Street Express via 8th Avenue
A-8 Avenue Express is one of the
trains in the IND divsion of the
New York Subway and the longest route. It runs 31
miles between 207 Street in
Inwood,
Manhattan to the Rockaways in southern
Queens. In Queens, it has 3 branches: a main branch to Far Rockaway, onw to Leffeft Bouelavard in the Ozone Park section and a branch to Rockaway Park served during rush hours only. In Manhattan the A is express, making the same stops as the C and E.
The A provides a direct connection to
JFK Airport at the Howard Beach station.
Duke Ellington's jazz hit Take the A Train made the A train famous. It is among the better-known trains in the system.
