A&M Records

A&M Records was formed in the early 1960s by Jerry Moss and Herb Alpert. Trumpet player Alpert went on to have many successes for the label with his Tijuana Brass group. In 1968 he released the massive international hit "This Guy's in Love With You." He also had a string of solo hits in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The studio for many years was located on the grounds of the Charlie Chaplin studio.

A&M was bought by PolyGram in 1989 and is now a part of the Interscope Records group, which also includes Geffen Records. Interscope is in turn part of Universal Music Group which is owned by the French water company Vivendi.
