Aharon Kotler
Harav Ahron Kotler, was born in the
1890s. He learnt in the famous Yeshivah in Slabotka in
Lithuania under the Alter of Slabodka, Rav Nosson Tzi Finkel, and Rav Moshe Mordechai Epstein. After learning there, he went with his father in law, Rav Isser Zalemn Meltzer to run a yeshivah in Slutzk. When the communists took over, the yeshivah moved to Kletzk in Poland. With the outbreak of
World War II, Reb Ahron and the yeshivah went to
Vilna. Reb Aharon was forced to leave from pressure, but many of his Talmidim didn't survive the war. In
1943, Reb Ahraon founded Beis Medresh Gevorah in
Lakewood, New Jersey, which is toay run by his grandson, Rav Malkiel Kotler shlita. Reb Ahraon founded Vaad Hatzolah, a rescue orginization for Eroupe's Jews. He also founced chinuch Atzmai and was the head of the Agudah. In
1962, Reb Aharon was niftar. His yeshivah BMG, now has over 2,000 Kollel yunkelight and bochurim.
