All Species Foundation

The All Species Foundation seeks to catalog all species on Earth by 2025. It begun in 2001 as a spinoff of the Long Now Foundation.

Given current rates of extinction, it seems likely they may succeed, as deforestation drastically reduces the number of species in the wild. Many are destroyed long before they can be cataloged and given names.

Wikipedia itself has this goal, see species, biology and zoology.
