Geography

\nAccording to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 110.7 km² (42.8 mi²). 109.8 km² (42.4 mi²) of it is land and 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.87% water.

\nAs of the census of 2000, there are 816 people, 309 households, and 241 families residing in the town. The population density is 7.4/km² (19.3/mi²). There are 347 housing units at an average density of 3.2/km² (8.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 99.26% White, 0.12% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.25% from two or more races. 0.49% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 309 households out of which 37.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.1% are married couples living together, 8.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.0% are non-families. 16.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.64 and the average family size is 2.93.
