Rachel and her sisters Jordan and Sara are cousins of him. Ax calls Jake "Prince Jake". He is sometimes jokingly referred to as the Animorphs' fearless leader. Jake has a crush on Cassie. Jake is interested in video games, basketball, and football. Jake is good friends with Marco.

Rachel is an Animorph. Rachel's father is Dan, a news weatherman on television. Her mom is Naomi, a lawyer. She has two sisters, Jordan and Sara, both younger than her. Jake and his brother Tom cousins of her. Her friends sometimes call her "Xena, Warrior Princess" and "Ms. Fashion". She is good friends with Cassie.

Cassie is an Animorph. She lives on a farm. Because of this, she has many pets. Her father is Walter, a vet on the farm, and her mother is Michelle, a vet at the zoo. Rachel is good friends with Cassie. She aspires to be a zoo vet.

Tobias is an Animorph. Tobias was a red-tailed hawk nothlit, a creature trapped in morph because they stayed morphed for longer than two hours at a time, from the end of Animorphs 1: The Invasion until the Ellimist restored his power to morph in Animorphs 13: The Change. His friends sometimes call him "Bird-boy" because of this. Tobias is close friends with Rachel and Ax. He has a pet cat named Dude. His parents are believed to have died. Before he was a nothlit, he lived with various aunts and uncles on both coasts. After becoming a nothlit he lived in the forest.

Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill is also known as Ax. Ax is an Animorph. Ax is stranded on Earth. Ax first appeared in Animorphs 4: The Message. Prince Elfangor is Ax's deceased brother. His father is Noorlin-Sirinial-Cooraf, and his mother is [[Forlay-Esgarrouth-Maheen], both on the Andalite homeworld. Tobias is a close friend. Sometimes other Animorphs call him "Ax-man".

Visser Three is a high-ranking Yeerk, normally in the body of an Andalite. His trips around the Universe have allowed him to acquire a vast variety of morphs through his host.
