Annie Oakley
Annie Oakley(

1926) nee Phoebe Ann Moses, born in Darke County,
Ohio,
United States, was a markswoman in the American west. After defeating a sideshow marksmen named Frank Butler in 1880, she married him. She joined the
Buffalo Bill Wild West Show in 1885, and was advertized as the "Little Miss Sure Shot." Oakley had such good aim that she knocked the ashes off a
cigarette in the mouth of
Kaiser Wilhelm II of
Germany.
In 1901 she was badly injured in a railway crash, but she recovered and resumed her career.
The musical Annie Get Your Gun, is loosely based on the life of Oakley.
