In North America, a Bachelor of Science degree usually requires a student to take a majority of their courses (usually 1/2 or 3/4) in the sciences, namely life sciences, physical sciences, or the mathematical sciences. Most universities plan the Science Bachelor degree as a liberal arts course schedule. In the UK, which subjects are considered science subjects varies, e.g. economics degrees may be B.A in one university but B.Sc. in another.
A Bachelor of Science receives the designation B.S. or B.Sc. for a major/pass degree and BS (Hon.) or B.Sc. (Hons) for an honours degree.
