Baltimore City Public School System
The
Baltimore City Public School System (BCPSS) is a public school district in the state of
Maryland that serves the youth of Baltimore City. The BCPSS was part of the Baltimore City Government but became separate from the government in
1997 when the state took over control of the school system. There are several public elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools in Baltimore City. The BCPSS is currently in a fiscal crisis and is currently in a reported $52 million deficit and is expected to become even worse if employees are not laid off. The largest school in physical size in Baltimore City is
Lake Clifton Eastern High School, it's been said that Lake Clifton Eastern High School is the largest high school on the
East Coast in terms of physical size.
