The racial makeup of the town is 97.13% White, 1.66% African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.30% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. 0.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 331 households out of which 20.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 35.6% are married couples living together, 10.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 51.4% are non-families. 46.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 25.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.98 and the average family size is 2.85.
