Bay Minette is a city located in Baldwin County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the city is 7,820. The city is the county seat of Baldwin County.

Geography

\nBay Minette is located at 30°53'0.406" North, 87°46'37.859" West (30.883446, -87.777183). According to the
U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 20.8 km² (8.0 mi²). 20.7 km² (8.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.50% water.

census2 of 2000, there are 7,820 people, 2,739 households, and 1,911 families residing in the city. The population density is 377.4/km² (977.6/mi²). There are 2,950 housing units at an average density of 142.4/km² (368.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 64.32% White, 33.47% Black or African American, 0.60% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.42% from other races, and 0.74% from two or more races. 1.02% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 2,739 households out of which 34.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.4% are married couples living together, 18.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.2% are non-families. 27.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.56 and the average family size is 3.11. In the city the population is spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 13.4% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.0 males.
