Bicycle Quick release

A quick release is a cam operated system for securing the wheels on a bicycle. Wheels equipped with quick releases can be removed and replaced more quickly than wheels with solid axles. On the negative side, quick release axles are inherently weaker than solid axles. Also, care must be taken to ensure that they are properly tightened. Invented in the 1920's by Tullio Campagnolo, the bicycle racer and ,later, manufacturer of prestige bicycle components.
