Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund (full name
Ballspiel-Verein Borussia 1909 e.V. Dortmund, often short
BVB) is a
German soccer team based in
Dortmund. They play in the
Bundesliga, and had several international successes. The soccer department is the most famous of the club, but it also has a
handball and
table tennis department.
The club was founded on December 19, 1909 in a room of the pub Zum Wildschütz in Dortmund. The name Borussia (latin of Prussia) was adopted from the nearby Borussia brewery. Borussia Dortmund was the first German soccer team to go to the stock market in 2000.
