Boys Don't Cry is a
1999 film based on the story of
Brandon Teena, a
transgendered man who was raped and murdered by his male friends, after they found out he was assigned a female gender at birth.
Hillary Swank's performance as Brandon Teena earned her the Oscar for best actress in 2001.
Boys Don't Cry is also the title of an album of the band
The Cure (
1980, compilation, best of
Three Imaginary Boys and some singles and
The Demo Album of the
1978 demos).
