Bullitt is most remembered for its car chase scene through the streets of downtown San Francisco, one of the earliest and most influential car chase sequences in film. McQueen, who did all of his own driving stunts, was behind the wheel of a 1968 Ford Mustang GT-390, chasing two hit men in a Dodge Charger. In a recent survey, the chase sequence from Bullitt was voted the best car chase in film history, in front of the original Gone in Sixty Seconds (1974) and The French Connection (1971).
