Central Somerset is an unorganized territory located in Somerset County, Maine. As of the 2000 census, the unorganized territory had a total population of 336.

Geography

\nAccording to the
United States Census Bureau, the unorganized territory has a total area of 201.4 km² (77.8 mi²). 198.5 km² (76.6 mi²) of it is land and 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.45% water.

Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 336 people, 154 households, and 91 families residing in the unorganized territory. The population density is 1.7/km² (4.4/mi²). There are 343 housing units at an average density of 1.7/km² (4.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the unorganized territory is 99.40% White, 0.30% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.30% from two or more races. 0.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 154 households out of which 22.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% are married couples living together, 5.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.9% are non-families. 32.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.18 and the average family size is 2.73. In the unorganized territory the population is spread out with 19.3% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 19.9% from 25 to 44, 35.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.9% who are 65 years of age or older.
