Clutha River
Clutha River is the second longest
river in
New Zealand and flows from
Lake Wanaka at its head to the
Pacific Ocean at its end.
There are several
hydroelectric power stations located on the river providing clean enviromentally friendly power to the New Zealand
power grid.
History
This river featured greatly in the Central Otago Goldrush. The Clutha River has been called Molyneux in the past.
