Commonwealth Secretariat
The
Commonwealth Secretariat is the principal organisation of the
Commonwealth which implements the decisions taken by the associations 54 member governments. It is headed by a
Secretary-General chosen by the Heads of Government for five years, presently (2000-2005) former New Zealand foreign minister
Don McKinnon.
The Secretariat was established by Heads of Government in 1965 and is located at Marlborough House in London.
