Copper oxide
Copper oxide is a substance formed when copper oxidizes. There are two forms, copper (I) oxide (cuprous oxide Cu
2O) a red powder and copper (II) oxide (cupric oxide CuO) a black powder. It has some scientific uses, including use as a
superconductor. The mineral cuprite, a
red colored crystal, is copper I oxide.
