County Dublin
Dublin (
Áth Cliath in
Irish) is the
county that contains the
city of
Dublin, the
capital and largest city of the
Republic of Ireland.
County Dublin is located on the East coast of Ireland in the province of Leinster. It is the third smallest county in Ireland with a land area of 922 km² (356 square miles). The census of 2002 recorded a total population of 1,122,600.
Administratively, County Dublin is divided into four:
- Dublin City, in the centre
- South Dublin, in the south-west
- Dún Laoghaire - Rathdown, in the south-east
- Fingal, in the north
Each of these districts is the equivalent of a full county and is administered by a county council, except Dublin City which has a City council.
