Danny DeVito
Daniel Michael DeVito (born
November 17,
1944) is an
American actor,
film director, and
producer from
Neptune,
New Jersey.
DeVito is best known in America for his portrayal of "Louie De Palma" on the popular American television series, Taxi. This series did not have major international appeal, and he is known for his film work in, for example, Britain.
Although he came to be thought of as a predictable light-comedy actor, he fought against this, bringing highly respected performances in such films as LA Confidential, Heist and The Big Kahuna.
In 1999, Devito produced and costarred in Man On The Moon, a film about the unusual life of his former Taxi costar, Andy Kaufman.
DeVito is married to actress Rhea Perlman. The couple met and were married while they were both working on the Taxi series.
