Deception and manipulation by animals
Deception and manipulation by animals have been examined as evidence for animal minds. Deceptive behaviors include morphological mimicry, in which the colors or shapes of animals resemble dangerous or inedible objects, as well as cases where their behavior conveys inaccurate information.
Cryptically colored moths tend to land selectively on surfaces where they will be less conspicuous. Some animals display patterns that look like dangerous objects.
