The racial makeup of the city is 69.63% White, 28.35% Black or African American, 0.47% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.55% from other races, and 1.01% from two or more races. 1.17% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 465 households out of which 38.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.5% are married couples living together, 18.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.3% are non-families. 18.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.76 and the average family size is 3.15.
