Digital Music Express

Digital Music Express is a subscription service that provides 100 channels of music in digital format, both directly via satellite, and more commonly via cable TV companies. It is available in the U.S and Canada, and is also offered on some airlines. The service began in 1992.

DMX now faces stiff competition from the next generation of services, such as Sirius Radio and XM Radio, both of which deliver their signals directly through small roof-mounted antennas, rather than through a small dish as DMX or DirecTV require. Other companies provide similar services, such as Muzak (with dish, and to businesses only), and Music Choice (via cable TV and DirecTV).
