Dinotopia began as an illustrated children's book called Dinotopia: A land apart from Time. It was a huge success which led Mr. Gurney to write and illustrate two more books called Dinotopia: The World Beneath and Dinotopia: First Flight. Mr. Gurney has also worked with various other authors to create several novels for youth and adults. There has also been a TV miniseries produced by Hallmark Entertainment based on Mr. Gurney's work.
