Diplurans (
order Diplura) are one of the three
hexapod groups that are not
insects. They are entognathous small
animals less than 6 mm in length. Diplurans are eyeless with noticeably long mobile antennae. The three families may be distinguished by the paired cerci at the rear of the body. These are as long as the
antennae in the Campodeidae, pincer-like in the Japygidae, and short and stubby in the Anajapygidae.
