He graduated from Schlagle High School in 1980, and enlisted in the Marine Corps. After completing Boot Camp in San Diego, he trained in all the Specialized Fields to be a member of the Marine Corps Elite Unit Force Reconnaissance. He served in Beirut, Grenada, Panama, Persian Gulf, Central America, Bosnia, Kosovo, Somalia, and a couple other classifid locations. He has been awarded 14 medals including the Silver Star, Bronze star, 6 purple hearts, and Navy / Marine commendation medal.
He was the Support Technical Advisor for Clint Eastwood during the film Heartbreak Ridge He and his team trained Mr. Eastwood how to look, act and talk like a Marine.
His most notable event took place in the Iraqi desert in Jan 1991 when he and his team rescued a downed naval Pilot surrounded by an estimated 80 Presidential Guards. A fierce gun battle broke out, but Sgt. Scott escaped with his team and the rescued pilot in a helicopter. Sgt was wounded by shrapnel when a grenade exploded near him during the gun battle. He refused to board the helicopter until all his men and the pilot were safely onboard. For this action he was awarded the Silver Star.
He became a Gunnery Sargeant before retiring from the Marine Corps in 2000. He resides in Phoenix, Arizona and lives with his 3 daughters, Jennifer, Tabitha and Jessica.
