Dove Creek is a town located in Dolores County, Colorado. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 698. It is the county seat of Dolores County6.

census of 2000, there are 698 people, 285 households, and 202 families residing in the town. The population density is 508.5/km² (1,322.5/mi²). There are 326 housing units at an average density of 237.5/km² (617.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.28% White, 0.00% African American, 1.86% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 1.58% from two or more races. 3.87% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 285 households out of which 31.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.4% are married couples living together, 13.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.8% are non-families. 26.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 2.93. In the town the population is spread out with 26.6% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 18.8% who are 65 years of age or older.
