Ebony (magazine)

Ebony a pocket-sized magazine for the Black American market, has been published since the autumn of 1945, the early issues often featuring beauties like Lena Horne and Dorothy Dandridge on its eye-catching covers. Constantly up-beat, like its generic White American contemporary Life, it gave Black Americans a needed psychic boost. For the first time, national corporations featured Black models driving cars and drinking soft drinks in the issues of Ebony.
