The edible frog (Rana esculenta) is a name for the common European frog. It is often used for food, particularly in France for the delicacy Frog's legs.

Rana esculenta is a hybrid between Rana lessonae and Rana ridibunda. Because of this edible frogs often cannot reproduce successfully with each other, only with one of the parent species. Females are between 5 to 9 cm long, males between 6 to 11 cm.
