Elba is a village located in Genesee County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 696.

United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 696 people, 245 households, and 190 families residing in the village. The population density is 263.5/km² (684.2/mi²). There are 258 housing units at an average density of 97.7 persons/km² (253.6 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 96.41% White, 1.44% African American, 0.57% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.15% from other races, and 0.29% from two or more races. 3.30% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 245 households out of which 38.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.7% are married couples living together, 9.8% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 22.4% are non-families. 20.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.84 and the average family size is 3.28. In the village the population is spread out with 28.3% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 12.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 102.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.0 males. The median income for a household in the village is $47,614, and the median income for a family is $51,042. Males have a median income of $40,156 versus $30,192 for females.
