Elizabeth Taylor (novelist)
Elizabeth Taylor (
1912-
1975) was a popular English
novelist and
short story writer of the mid-20th century. She was born Elizabeth Coles in
Reading,
Berkshire. She was educated at the Abbey School, Reading, and worked as a private tutor and as a librarian. In
1936 she married John Taylor, a businessman. Her work is mainly concerned with "everyday" situations. Her best-known novels include:

- The Sleeping Beauty
- The Wedding Group (1968)
- Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont (1971)
- The Devastating Boys (1972)
