Epi-pen

An Epi-pen is a trademark for a medical device that serves as an autoinjector for epinephrine (ie. adrenaline). Persons who have survived anaphylactic shock are often prescribed an Epi-pen to carry, especially venturing out into a remote area where wilderness first aid may be required.

Follow the emergency instructions in the kit. If you are injecting someone else with an Epi-pen, be extremely careful not to accidentally inject yourself; this would needlessly endanger two lives: your own, and the person in need of the medicine. If you are injecting yourself, the thigh is the easiest place to inject it into. In any situation where an Epi-pen has been used, whether accidentally or on purpose, call for help immediately. Even if the Epi-pen has been effective as a temporary first aid measure, continue transporting the patient to advanced medical care.
