History
Everman was named for an engineer, John W. Everman, of the International-Great Northern Railroad, on the arrival of which the first established anglo-American community developed here in 1904. Postal service and schools were established soon after that.
Until the 1850s, the Kiowa-Apache and Wichita native American tribes inhabited this area.
A World War I flight training school at nearby Barron Field helped develop the economy. The population reached 150 in the 1920s and 450 in the 1950s, exploding to 5,000 in the 1970s when Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport was built, stabilising around 5,800 today.

Everman is located at 32°37'49" North, 97°17'3" West (32.630284, -97.284267)1.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.1 km² (2.0 mi²). 5.1 km² (2.0 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 5,836 people, 1,918 households, and 1,522 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,138.0/km² (2,941.8/mi²). There are 1,987 housing units at an average density of 387.5/km² (1,001.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 54.83% White, 27.72% African American, 0.48% Native American, 1.42% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 12.58% from other races, and 2.93% from two or more races. 22.98% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,918 households out of which 40.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.9% are married couples living together, 18.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.6% are non-families. 17.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.02 and the average family size is 3.40.
In the city the population is spread out with 31.4% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 9.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 93.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $39,021, and the median income for a family is $44,330. Males have a median income of $29,560 versus $22,443 for females. The per capita income for the city is $14,088. 9.8% of the population and 8.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 13.1% are under the age of 18 and 10.7% are 65 or older.
