Far Eastern Economic Review (FEER, 遠東經濟評論) in contrast to other newsweeklies, is Asian born and bred. It is an Asia business magazine based in Hong Kong and it is published weekly on Thursday. It is a sister magazine of The Wall Street Journal, and both are owned by the Dow Jones & Company.
FEER covers topics including politics, business, economics, technology and social and cultural issues throughout Asia, focusing in Southeast Asia and China with a reputation for analysis of the local perspectives. Its target readers are mainly from the Asian countries such as Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and other parts of Southeast Asia; that together accumulate over 100,000 circulation in the region. More than 13,000 circulation copies are also available worldwide and are mostly consumed in the North America and Europe.

The first issue of Far Eastern Economic Review was published on October 16, 1946. It has been one of the leading business magazines in the Asian region throughout the years.
According to the editorial statement in their inaugural issue,
"The purpose of this weekly economic publication is to analyse and interpret financial, commercial and industrial developments; to collect economic news; and to present views and opinions with the intent to improve existing conditions. Politics and economics being connatural, it will be inevitable that this publication may at times appear to transgress its primary objective by reporting on, and dealing with, political affairs." The Review aims at reporting and analyzing the financial, commercial and industrial developments in the South-East Asia and Pacific regions with special emphasis on Hong Kong and China. It also collects economic news and present views and opinions from professionals with the intent to improve economic prospects of the local economic zone.
English is the medium of publication for the Review in order to serve international readers all over the world. It aims at unbiased and dispassionate, factual and balanced reporting.
The reviews are separated into 3 main sections: top features, regular features and other features. Under the Top features, there are 3 parts: 'This Week', 'Top Interviews' and 'Special Reports'.
The Review regularly interviews heads of government and leaders who shape events in the region and they are mostly conducted in the first or second issue of each month.See more about it.
