Fatima Jinnah
Fatima Jinnah (
Madr-e-Millat [Mother of the
Nation]) (
1893 -
1967) was the sister of
Pakistan's first
governor-
general,
Muhammed Ali Jinnah. After their father's death (
1901), Muhammed became her legal guardian. She was enrolled in a dental college, in
Calcutta, in
1919 and opened a
Bombay clinic in
1923. Fatima attended the Muslim League session of
1937 and sessions from
1940 onwards. In the mid-
1960s, she was a notable
political opponent of
Field Marshal Khan. She is buried within her brothers
mausoleum, in
Karachi.
