Ferid Murad

Ferid Murad was born on September 14, 1936 in Whiting, Indiana to parents John Murad (born Jabir Murat Ejupi in Albania) and Henrietta Bowman.

Along with Robert F. Furchgott and Louis J. Ignarro, Murad was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1998 for their discoveries concerning nitric oxide as a signalling molecule in the cardiovascular system. But, Salvador Moncada from Honduras claims to have made this discovery before the Nobel Prize laureates.
