Figueres

Figueres is the capital of the comarca of Alt Empord�, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. It is located at 39 metres above the sea, near the Pyrenees and the French border. Population 33,157 (1996).

The town was the birthplace of artist Salvador Dal�, and houses the Teatre-Museu Gala Salvador Dal�, a large museum designed by Dal� himself which attracts many visitors.
