Flow bindings are intended to offer the levels of control available from traditional strap-in bindings, combined with the convenience of step-in binding systems.
Flow bindings have a folding high-back and a shaped material upper section. The upper section replaces the two straps used in regular step-in bindings. The user inserts the foot into the binding through the back, rather than the top, and then clips the high-back up into place.
For many, this binding system does deliver on its promise of strap-in control mixed with step-in convenience. There are, however, a number of drawbacks:
