The album was released at the very end of the New Jack Swing, a kind of fad of R&B during the late '80's and early '90's. The album at the cutting edge of R&B. Most groups are primarily at their best with slow songs. On this album, Jodeci was no exception with songs like "Come and Talk To Me" and the title track "Forever My Lady". The entire flow of the album was stopped dead in its tracks with the fast songs which comprised of the second half of the album. Tracks like "My Phone", and "It's Alright" just we're not up to par.
Overall, the album performed relatively well in its 1 1/2 year stay on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album sold three million copies.
