Fremantle Dockers
The
Fremantle Dockers are one of 16 teams in the
Australian Football League. They are based in the port city of
Fremantle, just south of
Perth. They joined the league in
1995, eight years after their rival Western Australian football team the
West Coast Eagles, and endured some tough years near the bottom of the premiership ladder before finishing fifth after the home-and-away rounds in
2003, making the finals for the first time.
The Dockers' home base is Fremantle Oval, while their games are played at Subiaco Oval.
Commonly known as simply "Freo", the team's colours are red, green and purple. Their emblem, an anchor, is based on the city's strong maritime links.
