Gandhi Peace Award
The
Gandhi Peace Award is an
annual award, in honour of
Mohandas Gandhi. The
annual award has been issued since
1960, presented by the American-based
organization Promoting Enduring Peace. The award consists of a certificate, a ceremony, and the presentation of a
bronze medallion inscriped with a quote by Gandhi, "
Love Ever Suffers/Never Revenges Itself." The award was first proposed by Jerome Davis, on
March 13,
1959. The first recipient was
Eleanor Roosevelt; the
2003 recipient was
Dennis Kucinich.
