Gyeongbu
The name
Gyeongbu (
경부 (
京釜) in
Korean) refers to the
Seoul-
Busan corridor in
South Korea, and is used as the name of the
Gyeongbu railway line (Gyeongbuseon; 경부선; 京釜線) and
Gyeongbu Expressway (Gyeongbu Gosok Doro; 경부 고속 도로; 京釜高速道路), both of which connect the Seoul--the South Korean capital and largest city--to Busan--the largest port and second-largest city. The name "Gyeongbu" is formed from the first characters in the names "
Gyeongseong" (경성 (京成), the Korean form of "
Keijo" (京成), the former
Japanese name for Seoul) and "Busan" (부산 (釜山)).
