Hawaii Territory
The
Hawaii Territory was a
territory of the
United States from
1898 to
1959. It voluntarily joined the United States following the abolishment of the
Hawaiian monarchy, during the brief reign of the
Republic of Hawaii.
During the War of the Pacific (1941-1944) the Hawaii territory was governed by the United States Military.
On August 21, 1959 Hawaii was granted statehood, and became America's 50th state.
