The name of a nymph in Greek mythology, the daughter of Cebren, a river god. Aesacus, son of Priamus and Alexirrhoe, fell in love with her. She fled from him but was bit by a snake and died. Aesacus, grieving, attempted to drown himself but was changed into a bird by Tethys.
