Hesse-Nassau
The
Prussian province of
Hesse-Nassau was created in
1866 by combining the previously independent Landgraviate of
Hesse-Homburg, electorate of
Hesse-Kassel, duchy of
Nassau, and the free city of
Frankfurt.
After the Second world war it merged with the neighbouring Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt into the German state of Hesse.
