Hiller Aviation Museum
The
Hiller Air Museum, located in
San Carlos, California at the
San Carlos Airport, is an
aircraft history
museum. Endowed by members of the Hiller family (owners of the Hiller Aircraft Company, an early
helicopter pioneer), this small museum specializes in
Northern California aircraft history and helicopter history.
Notable exhibits include:
- The Hiller X-44, first coaxial helicopter to fly in the US [1]
- The Hiller Flying Platform, an experimental aircraft from 1955 to give a single passenger low-altitude flight [1]
- Parts of the Boeing SST prototype, an uncompleted Concorde rival [1]
- The front 45 feet of a Boeing 747 [1]
Every June, the museum sponsors the Vertical Challenge Airshow, a helicopter-centred
airshow at
San Carlos Airport.
