Hindustan (car)
Hindustan Motors is the state automobile manufacturer of India, and producer of the famous Ambassador car, widely used as a taxicab and as a government limousine. One of the original three car manufacturers in India, it was a leader in car sales until the 1980s, when the auto industry was opened up from protection.
The company was founded in 1942 and still only sells two models, largely unchanged since its founding.
Ambassador Car
The Ambassador design is based on the British 1948 Morris (car) Oxford, and is famous for being very heavy and underpowered, with only a 55 bhp engine.
