Hokuriku region (lit. North Land) is the region confing the Sea of Japan within Chubu region, the central region of Honshu, the main island of Japan.
The region either includes Toyama, Ishikawa and Fukui prefectures or includes Niigata prefecture besides the three. In the former case, Niigata prefecture and Nagano prefectures form Shin'etsu region and with Hokuriku region, it becomes Hoku-shin'etsu (lit. North Shien'etsu).
