Human-Machine Interface
HMI or
Human-Machine Interface is the 'layer' that separates a human that is operating a machine from the machine itself.
One example of a HMI is the
computer hardware and
software that enables a single operator to monitor and control a large machinery while comfortable in the operators booth.
HMI used to be called MMIs (man-machine interfaces) but were changed to be politically correct.
